Summer in Tokyo brings plenty of sunshine—and some very hot days! ☀️ When it becomes too warm to head to the park, our Kinder children don’t have to miss out on outdoor fun. Instead, we turn our balcony into the perfect place to cool down, move our bodies, and enjoy one of our favourite summer traditions: water play! 💦

東京の夏は、太陽がまぶしく、とても暑い日が続きます。☀️ 公園へ遊びに行くには暑すぎる日でも、キンダークラスの外遊びは終わりません！そんな日はバルコニーが、涼しく楽しく過ごせる特別な遊び場に大変身。毎年子どもたちが楽しみにしている夏ならではの水遊びを思いきり楽しみます！💦

Armed with colourful water blasters, buckets, and plenty of water, the children were ready for action! 🔫💧 Before long, water was flying in every direction as friends chased one another, dodged splashes, and tried to surprise their teachers through the windows. The balcony was quickly filled with excited voices, huge smiles, and lots and lots of laughter.

カラフルな水鉄砲やバケツを手にした子どもたちは、準備万端！🔫💧 あっという間に水しぶきがあちこちに飛び交い、お友だちを追いかけたり、水をよけたり、窓越しに先生をびっくりさせたりと大盛り上がり。バルコニーは子どもたちの元気な声と笑顔、そしてたくさんの笑い声でいっぱいになりました。

One of the best things about water play is that there are so many ways to enjoy it. 🌈 Some children jumped straight into an energetic water battle, while others carefully filled their blasters and containers, poured water from one place to another, or experimented with how far they could make the water spray. Even our playhouse became part of the adventure—a perfect hideout from an incoming splash!

水遊びの魅力は、それぞれが自分の好きな方法で楽しめることです。🌈 元気いっぱいに水をかけ合う子もいれば、水鉄砲や容器にじっくり水を入れたり、水を移し替えたり、どこまで遠くに水を飛ばせるか試したりする子もいました。いつものプレイハウスも、この日は水しぶきから隠れる秘密基地に！遊び方はどんどん広がっていきました。

Of course, the biggest smiles came from simply getting completely soaked together! 😆💦 Running, laughing, refilling, and starting all over again, the children shared so many playful moments with their friends. A surprise spray might lead to a chase, a chase to another splash, and before we knew it, everyone was wet from head to toe. Even a big fan became part of the fun, bringing a refreshing breeze and plenty of giggles to our very wet Kinder crew.

そして何より楽しいのは、みんなでびしょ濡れになること！😆💦 走って、笑って、水を補充して、またスタート。突然水をかけられたことから追いかけっこが始まったり、そこからさらに水のかけ合いに発展したりと、遊びは止まりません。気がつけばみんな頭から足までびしょびしょ！大きな扇風機の涼しい風も加わり、子どもたちの笑い声がさらに広がりました。

While it may look like one big splash party, water play also gives children wonderful opportunities to learn naturally through play. 💙 Filling and pouring encourage coordination and concentration, while running and aiming support gross motor development. Just as importantly, playing together gives children countless chances to communicate, take turns, negotiate their own games, and enjoy being part of a group.

一見すると楽しい水遊びですが、その中には遊びを通したたくさんの学びがあります。💙 水を汲んだり注いだりすることで、集中力や手と目の協調性が育まれ、走ったり水鉄砲で狙いを定めたりすることで、体を大きく動かす力にもつながります。そして何より、お友だちと一緒に遊ぶ中で、声を掛け合ったり、順番を待ったり、自分たちで遊びを考えたりしながら、自然とコミュニケーションや協調性を育んでいます。
